Soil Improvement Help - The Process

In order to best evaluate your soil I recommend 3 test samples of approximately 6 inches deep. One from the Poorest Area, One from an Average Area, and One from the Best Area of your farm.

When you send a soil test to Oak Hill Consulting, I have International Ag Labs out of Minnesota do a detailed test. International Ag Labs tests for humus, nitrates, ammonia, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium, ERGS, ORP, copper, iron, manganese, and zinc.

What You Get -

From this test I write up recommendations for your soil and crop.
Often setting up a plan to accomplish these goals, simply because some farmers cannot fix everything in one year.

Recommendations will be returned to you in cassette tapes, explaining my suggestions.

With my suggestions will be general information and the who, what, where, and why for your fertilizing practices. These cassette tapes answer a lot of questions plus explain what might really be going on in your fields.

I will warn you that these tapes may not tell you what you want to hear. Many people today are telling you exactly what you want to hear so they can sell you something.

Oak Hill takes pride in not selling anything so the recommendations are what I feel is best for you and your soil.

I don't claim to know everything and I am not afraid to say "I don't know." I am a farmer also, and work with soil everyday, and with my experience feel that I can help most farmers wanting to understand how to improve their soil.

Let me help you to see what makes the good soil in your area good and how to turn the bad soil into good with a little time and effort.
